Body of Health, The New Science of Intuitional Medicine by Francesca McCartney

Body of Health, The New Science of Intuitional Medicine by Francesca McCartney
Published by New World Library
$15.95

We live in a world dominated by the Newtonian Mechanistic model of thought that says we – and everything on the earth and in the universe – are separate entities. Our bodies, our environment and everything else are just a sum of the individual parts and nothing more. Whatever actions we take upon ourselves or the environment has no effect on anything else or the “whole.”

In Body of Health, The New Science of Intuitional Medicine, Francesca McCartney shows us that not only are we physical beings, but also energetic, spiritual beings interacting with each other and the world around us energetically. Our interaction with the world has mostly been through our five senses, which has served us quite well. But we can be much healthier if we tap into our sixth sense of intuition.

Since most of us have not developed our intuitive abilities, McCartney takes us on a wonderful journey of learning about our energetic systems and how to listen to “that inner voice of guidance.” Through a series of exercises and meditations, the reader learns “how to diagnose your current state of health, increase your level of health by clearing blockages and balancing your energy, and create a positively charged protection field in and around your personal universe and claim full possession of your energetic space.”

Whether you are a novice or advanced in your intuitive awareness, this book has something for you. As Dr. McCartney says, “As you read this book, your understanding of what it means to be human will greatly expand. Your perspective on life opens up and you are given choices that directly influence your health, balance and vital energy.”

Marie by Judy McCracken

Marie by Judy McCracken

Published by Judy McCracken
$14.50

Since the day Marie waltzed into my life, I have not stopped hearing her poignant music. Marie is the title of the biography written by educator and Reiki Master Judy McCracken. Through her richly drawn portrayal of her mother, McCracken allows us to view the indelible bonds between Marie and her six children and the mysterious force that inspired them to hope, to act, to heal and to love.

In this short, spellbinding novel, the reader discovers the ever-unfolding mystery of Marie's sweet, sad and quite surprising life. From her stint as an award-winning ballroom dancer to her grand finale – the funeral which she had planned herself – we get a front-row seat of this remarkably strong-willed, determined woman.

I highly recommend this enthralling, richly textured, fast-paced novel. There are so many lessons to learn from Marie that you will want to share and discuss this book with your friends. You will never forget Marie.

101 Ways to Jump Start Your Intuition by John Holland

101 Ways to Jump Start Your Intuition by John Holland

Published by Hay House, Inc.
$8.95

101 Ways to Jump Start Your Intuition is a neat little book by John Holland that could be a companion to Body of Health: The New Science of Intuition Medicine for Energy and Balance by Francesca McCartney, PhD (published by New World Library). Holland claims that intuition is the language of the soul and that even though we are all born with this ability, most of us have forgotten how to use and listen to it.

This book is not necessarily a “how to” book but rather a compendium of 101 exercises and affirmations that help guide you to stronger intuitive abilities. Instead of reading the book cover to cover, you are encouraged to leaf through it and find an exercise or activity that resonates with you. The lessons are easy, quick and fun, but they do help you to understand, develop and work with your internal sense of intuition.

For instance, in one activity Holland suggests you guess how many emails you may be receiving when you log onto your computer or guess who is calling (without looking at the caller ID) before you pick up the phone.
There are a wealth of activities that you can do that can make your intuition studies more fun. As you open up and connect with your energetic self by using the lessons in Body of Health, you can supplement your day with the exercises suggested by John Holland….then watch your intuitive abilities grow!

Gayaki Sitar - Hasu Patel

Gayaki Sitar - Hasu Patel

Though Hasu Patel's album Gayaki Sitar has been available for some time, it may not be well known outside of North Indian classical music circles. That may be because she spends the majority of her time devoted to teaching sitar, tabla and voice at Oberlin College, where she is a faculty member, and privately in her Cleveland-area home.

The title Gayaki Sitar refers to a style of playing developed by Hasu's teacher, Ustad Vilayat Khan Saheb, in which the sitar replicates the fluidity and subtle nuances of the human voice. Hasu Patel flawlessly invokes the Divine Spirit in the three ragas (Indian music melodies) presented on the album. Each raga becomes a meditation that transports the listener to a transcendental state of mind. The mood of the music is one of devotion, surrender and longing for a deeper connection to Spirit.
