The Gift That Keeps on Giving
The Gift That Keeps on Giving
by Hank Roth
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The gift that keeps on giving is actually in the giving. Unconditional giving assures a flow of prosperity. Sharing our time, talent and treasure offers us the opportunity to rise out of lack and limitation, an ego-driven illusion that was taught to our generation by our ancestors who lived through the horrors of two world wars and a devastating economic depression in between.

What we believe becomes true for us and we spend our lives seeking evidence to support our beliefs. Therefore, in order to create a prosperous belief system, it is necessary to change our perception of the world. Everything we see is viewed through the filter of all of our collective experiences. That filter distorts our ability to see what is really there.

If everything in your life reflects lack and limitation, it is because you have developed a belief system that says lack and limitation are what you deserve. It is time to give up these limiting perceptions and embrace beliefs that support your prosperity and abundance.

Begin by changing your awareness and accept that your long-held beliefs are not supporting a life of abundance and prosperity. You have the absolute power to make your own choices at any time and under any circumstances. Perhaps you have grown comfortable playing the role of victim; it's time to own your own power. Remember that you are 100 percent responsible for the consequences of those choices and, therefore, cannot be a victim – especially if you choose lack and limitation again and again. Knowing that the freedom to choose is yours, you need to choose to be willing to change your consciousness (beliefs) about prosperity. Change your mind – change your life.

Changing one's consciousness requires a commitment to rigorous and repetitive practices. Changing consciousness in prosperity requires a high level of commitment to the following practices:

Affirmation: a statement of your desired result as though it has already occurred.
For example, “I am prosperous.” You are affirming your prosperity in the present moment as though it has already occurred. By doing so, you begin to train your subconscious mind to believe what you are affirming. The affirmation needs to be repeated thousands of times with intent and conviction. You are changing your belief system, which has been embedded in your subconscious mind since childhood. Be careful to avoid inadvertently affirming lack and limitation with negative speaking or thinking (i.e. “I am not good enough” or “I do not deserve to be prosperous, happy, healthy and peaceful.”). When you use “I am” in a statement you are, in effect, declaring it as true for you at the highest level of your being. Eventually your subconscious will believe it.

Gratitude: an expression in the present moment as though you have already received that which you are affirming.
Gratitude needs to be expressed to your highest source of good – God (as you define that term for yourself), the Universe, Spirit, Supreme Intelligence, etc.

Meditation: getting quiet and releasing attachment to your daily pressures, tensions and stresses.
This practice opens your mind and your heart to receive the benefits of repeating your affirmations. A change in consciousness, or a shift in your belief systems, requires great concentration. Quieting your mind through meditation facilitates the acceptance of your new beliefs into your subconscious mind and allows feelings of gratitude to flow.

Giving: offering your time, talent and treasure.
These outward expressions of your inner commitment change your beliefs about prosperity. Because giving creates space for increased abundance, it brings the change in your subconscious home to stay. As you give so shall you receive, but in greater measure than the gift you give.

Give your time to help others in need. Do volunteer work at your church, a hospital, school, community-service organization or nonprofit, hospice, etc. Do the outer work of giving, as well as the inner work of affirming, gratitude and meditation.

Give your talents. Do what you love to do. Do it in a way that supports your community, your family and friends. Be generous with your talents. Share your special gifts.

Give your treasure. Tithing, the concept of giving 10 percent of your income to the source of your spiritual nourishment, is a universally accepted spiritual principle that promises prosperity and abundance in all aspects of your life. Trust its power, practice it and watch the flow of your good increase.
Give freely knowing that the universe stands ready to respond to you. It wants to give to you the gift that keeps on giving.Balanced Living Magazine, LCC
