Northeast Ohio Study on Alternative Spiritual Practices
Counseling and human development researcher Dr. Louis Busacca recently conducted a study in Northeastern Ohio to gain a picture of people who self-identify with esoteric spirituality. He surveyed people who use alternative spiritual activities that fall outside of traditional religious institutions for the purpose of self-development. These activities include divination, alternate reality, energy healing, spirit communication, psychology, bodywork, meditation, earth-based practice, paganism, martial arts, medicine and creative arts.
Affiliated with Cleveland State University, this study represents the first phase of the Alternative Spirituality and Wellness Project designed to develop empirical research on the psychological health and well being of a post-modern spiritual community. This survey was supported by Mind-Body-Spirit Connected, Balanced Living Magazine and Angel House Center for Art & Creative Life Change.
